Kansas City Police Department

The Kansas City Missouri Police Department (KCPD) had its beginning April 15, 1874, when the Board of Police Commissioners established under state control was appointed by the Governor and charged with running the police force and keeping the peace. In 1932, the KCPD was brought under city governance by home-rule charter and between 1932 and 1939 became one of the most corrupt police departments in the nation.

The department was returned to state control under an independent Board of Police Commissioners appointed by the Governor in 1939, and continues to operate independently today.

Under state control, the KCPD has more than 1,400 officers and 600 civilians employees dedicated to serving all those who call Kansas City home and is recognized as one of the top major city police departments in America.

UGas

Providing Fast, Friendly service in a Fresh and Fun environment was the cornerstone of the first U-Gas convenience store when it opened in 1977. Now with 16 stores in the St Louis metropolitan area, U-Gas still embraces these 4 simple principles that were put into effect by founder Paul Taylor when he opened that first store.

Today U-Gas operates modern convenience stores mixing typical c-store offerings with a proprietary foodservice, modern automated car washes at most locations, and the best group of customer oriented employee’s in the industry.

The UGas goal is to provide Fast and Friendly service at the register where you don’t have to wait in line and the service isn’t robotic...

Dirt Cheap

The first Dirt Cheap opened in January 1993 at Highway 30 and Valley Dell in Fenton. It was one-third the size of the present store at that location today, and the original Fenton store was run by one employee. Later that same year two more stores opened and Dirt Cheap was off and running!

Today, Dirt Cheap has 15 locations throughout the St. Louis Metro area, including stores in Cape Girardeau and Paducah, Kentucky. They offer tobacco, cigarette, beer and liquor products at all price points to better serve their customers.

While Dirt Cheap is known as the “last refuge of the persecuted smoker” and it’s pricing strategy with the “Cheap, Cheap, Fun, Fun” slogan, they are nevertheless very serious about underage smoking and drinking.

To that end, Dirt Cheap actively participates in and promotes several programs designed to curb underage smoking and alcoholic beverage consumption and supports a variety of St. Louis community activities including the St. Louis Science Center and Kids Sports.

Missouri State Assessor's Association

The Missouri State Assessors Association (MSAA) is comprised of the County Assessor’s from Missouri’s 114 counties and the City of St. Louis. The Assessors primary role is to track and value all of the Real Estate and Tangible Personal Property in the county they serve.

Property valuations are based on market value as defined by the Missouri Constitution. Missouri law requires the Assessor to evaluate real estate every two years to determine an increase or decrease in market value. Tangible Personal property, new real estate construction and improvements are valued annually.

The Counties Assessed valuation is used by School District’s, Ambulance Districts, Emergency Management Districts- virtually any taxing entity authorized by state law to charge a tax based on the value of Real or Personal Property- to determine tax collections that drive the operating budgets of the taxing political subdivision.

The MSAA provides Assessor’s access to resource tools and information to make reasonable and justifiable evaluations of Real Estate and Tangible Personal Property to ensure a fair and accurate system for all Missourians.
